Dear Friends and Loved Ones,
We received an email update from the team today. Apparently they have been experiencing, first hand, the ongoing challenges of internet communications in Niger:)
On Friday, they did construction work at the school in Maradi (where Chick-fil-A has played a significant role). They painted the kitchen and the school cafeteria. In addition, they set up thirteen computers at both the school and the bible school. In the afternoon, they played tennis at the French Club.
Friday evening, they went to church to hear Pastor Prospere preach in French.
Saturday - At the church, the team taught the WinShape Serve leadership model to seventy people who, as one team member described, were, “thirsting for knowledge”. After lunch, they visited four of the conference attendees at their respective businesses. They were very impressed by an inventor who designed two machines to help villagers process peanuts into peanut butter and peanut oil.
Dan Ligon preached Sunday morning at the church in Madaoua. They ate lunch at Birnin Komi before heading out on the long journey back to Naimey.
They are all feeling very well and agree they have had a great time in Maradi. Brent Teague (missionary in Naimey) met the team half-way (just in time for the a/c to go out for the remainder of the four hour drive). On the way, they happened upon a single car accident and while the car had flipped over twice, the two occupants escaped relatively unharmed with mostly scrapes and bruises. The team made an unscheduled stop to act as ambulance for the driver and passenger and deliver them to the hospital. When we spoke to the team moments ago, they had just arrived in Naimey and were headed to the American Club for dinner and a swim.
Thanks for traveling with us,
The 2009 WinShape Serve Mission
