Update Day 3 and 4

We got a surprise phone call this morning from Chug. It was 7:30 am here so with the time difference it was 12:30 pm in Niger. He called because they had trouble with the phones so he was not able to call yesterday and also the email is not working.

Anyway, he said that the drive yesterday was long...but that they saw lots of giraffes and he got some great pictures. They were west African giraffes so he said that they looked a little different but that they were cool looking. He also said that they could see rain off in the distance, but they have not gotten any rain where they are. It is supposed to be their dry season so they are not expecting any.

This morning they had been to the school. He said that they passed out all of the school supplies that they took with them. The kids were excited to get them. It is Brad Lingerfelt's birthday so the kids in one room sang him Happy Birthday. And in another room they sang to Chug since his was just a few days ago.

The kids had a few questions for him... one was "Is it Hot?" And Chug said that it was not too bad. The other question was "Have you had any Coke's yet?" Chug said that all of the guys had a Coke in their hand right now. It tastes different, but good!

The other thing that we asked was about the food...he said that it has been good so far. They are supposed to have a traditional African meal today so he was a little unsure about how that would be for them. But all in all they are doing great so far. We are looking forward to the email updates so we can see some pictures.
